We’ve seen plenty of these vehicles come through the workshop with oil leaks from the upper sump. A common repair is to remove the sump and reseal it with silicone, but in our experience this is only a temporary fix. Before long, the leak often returns and the whole job has to be done again.
Our preferred solution is to fit the earlier-style upper sump, which uses a proper gasket rather than relying solely on silicone sealant. It’s a far more reliable repair that gives owners much better long-term results.
The best part? The engine doesn’t need to come out. Our technicians can complete the conversion with the engine still in the vehicle, saving significant time while delivering a lasting repair.
